Loss

I see that a fellow blogger's father passed away. This happened very shortly after the passing of his uncle and dog. 3 significant losses in such a short time. I don't know how people deal with it, the heartache. When Angela died this month, it got us all talking. How do people stand up there and receive people? Tina is reading a book about condolences. It says that our body automatically does it; like being on auto pilot. I can't imagine. My thoughts and prayers are with you H,and your family- and I'm very sorry for your loss.

Well, Angela died. Her funeral was Saturday. She was so full of life. Someone told me you only have so many hours in life and that she must have used hers up quickly having all the fun she did. That's a positive way of looking at it, you have to, because it just doesn't make sense.
We are going on vacation a week from today. I am excited and need it.

Sometimes I feel guilty that I get to go on vacation when I look at the families I serve. Some of the kids are abandoned by their parents. I think of people in pain, like Angela's family and think, what right do I have to have fun?
Guess it's an emotional day and I am really ready for some time off.

how insignificant

I don't get it. A woman I play cards with and who cuts my hair, collapsed at a gathering Thursday night. My mom was sitting next to her. The woman's name is Angie. She always had a way of making people special, calling you pumpkin or honey or sweetheart. She played by her rules. She did what she wanted....but didn't hurt anyone by doing it. They say an aneurysm burst in her head. They say there is little brain activity. She has a living will. She just turned 55 a few months ago.
They turned off the machine Sunday night...She is breathing on her own, but no change.
Today my aunt sent home a pie for my grandmother, who thinks it has mold on it. She called my aunt and left a message for her. She also called my mother. Mom told her to put the pie in the fridge and my aunt will get the receipt and take it back. Gram calls back in a tizzy because she doesn't know what to do with the pie. It probably cost less than $5.
Angela is dying in a hospital bed. Life is so short and people are concerned about a friggin pie that cost a few dollars. How insignifcant.
