Yesterday afternoon I had to place a child into foster care. The mother has some mental health issues to deal with. It was my coworkers case and she was out of the office. Since I had office hours, I had to deal with this emergency. It reminded me of my CPS days...and I didn't like those days.
The mother signed the child over voluntarily. She knew she was making the right decision. I think it takes alot of courage to do that.
Last week, CPS had another fatality of shaken baby syndrome. The baby was almost 8 months old....there are alternatives; there is help. I'm so glad the girl yesterday reached out for help.
